Marcia Kure has been commissioned to create the third of an ongoing series of ephemeral wall drawings in the entry space of the Menil Drawing Institute. Through her multidisciplinary art practice, Kure explores a wide range of concepts, including colonial legacies and diasporic identities. She is known for compositions that feature the curvilinear Uli line, a traditional Nigerian design motif, as well as her use of natural, plant-based pigments extracted from kola nuts, indigo, coffee, and charcoal. In her work, Kure explores line as concept, form, and experience.
