Laila Tara H will be guiding a five-day course on the basics of the Mughal painting tradition, where participants will learn essential skills to make and prepare wasli paper for painting, before hand-making their own rich pigments using traditional techniques. Mughal paintings are renowned for their intricacy, luminosity, and naturalism. From the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, artists in the imperial House of Books illustrated manuscripts and created paintings for imperial albums. There will also be an opportunity to hear from V&A curators about the history of Mughal painting.
