The October 2022 issue of Black+White Photography Magazine features Diana Matar's series My America,. Matar photographed over 300 locations in the United States where a person has been killed by a member of the law enforcement agency. Photographing over six journeys taken between 2016 and 2018, Matar asks, "Can photography bear the burden of history? Does violence leave a trace on the topography of where that violence occurred?”
My America exhibited as a solo show at the Musée de la Photographie, Charleroi, Belgium, and is already forming part of a more lasting discussion of police brutality in America and has been included in the modern abolitionist lecture series at UCLA.
My America will be published by GOST Books
